Quebecor supports Montréal World Film Festival

Quebecor is proud to support the Montréal World Film Festival (WFF) for the 8th consecutive year. This year, the showcase for films from around the world will be held from August 27 to September 7. Year after year, the WFF offers movie buffs a rich and diverse line-up of original films that have won local or international acclaim. In addition to providing financial support, Quebecor is backing the festival with a promotional campaign in its media outlets.

Spreading culture in all its forms by making it available to the widest possible audience is one of Quebecor’s core commitments. We are very proud to support the WFF, which provides a marvelous opportunity to celebrate our own cinema and discover movies from the rest of the world. The World Film Festival makes an important contribution to Québec culture and broadens our vision of the world. We wish all festival-goers an enriching cinematic experience!

Quebecor has been helping to bring movies to the people for years. In addition to the WFF, it sponsors the Festival du nouveau cinéma and the Festival de cinéma de la Ville de Québec. Quebecor has also created Éléphant: The memory of Québec cinema, a large-scale project dedicated to restoring and preserving Québec’s cinematic heritage and making it available to the public. To date, nearly 225 films have been digitized and restored. The restored movies can be accessed through Videotron’s illico video on demand, illico mobile and illico.tv services. The original versions with subtitles are also available on iTunes in Canada, the U.S., France and all other European and African countries where French or English is one of the official languages. Éléphant: The memory of Québec cinema is a philanthropic project fully funded by Quebecor from which it derives no financial benefit.Éléphant has launched Éléphant ClassiQ, Canada’s first festival devoted to digitized and restored classic films from around the world. This year’s edition will be held from November 19 to 22, 2015.
