Born in Montreal on March 6, 1943, and the father of three children: Sophie, Philippe and Simon, Serge Gouin graduated from the University of Western Ontario (M.B.A. in 1966 and B.A. in 1965) and from the University of Montreal (B.A. in 1963). From 1966 to date he held the following positions:

Serge Gouin is also a member of the boards of directors of Biovail Corporation and Onex Corporation. He also serves on the Advisory Committee of the Richard Ivey School of Business, London, Ontario. He is a member of the Mount-Royal Club and of Quail Ridge Country Club, Boynton Beach, Florida.
