A trailblazer in cable telephony

Videotron continued breaking new ground in 2005, becoming the first major cable company in Canada to offer residential telephone service via cable. With this innovative and affordable alternative to conventional telephone service, both local and long-distance, one-stop shopping for telecommunications services has become a reality.

Subscribing to Videotron's residential telephone service couldn't be easier: customers can keep their existing telephone number, equipment and access to the services and functionalities they are accustomed to, such as call display, voice mail, call waiting, assistance (0, 411, 911, 611), long distance and calling cards. Advantageously priced basic service and free long-distance calling between subscribers to Videotron telephone service add up to an unbeatable deal. The Voice Mail to e-mail service launched in December 2005 lets customers who subscribe to both Videotron's telephone service and its cable Internet service pick up their voice messages by e-mail as audio file attachments.

Videotron's cable telephone service does not require an Internet connection, as do most telephone services based on the Internet Protocol (IP), and does not route calls over the public information highway. It uses the Internet Protocol, a data transfer protocol, to transmit voice over a private network managed entirely by Videotron. The technology will support the introduction of distinctive, progressive services in the future.

Wireless service secures Videotron's telecommunications offering

Since August 2006, Videotron is offering clients its wireless telephony service, adding a fourth product to its one-stop shop offering.

Videotron's strategy is to develop a full, attractive array of telecommunications and entertainment services. The move into wireless is another step towards consolidating Videotron's customer experience leadership. With the wireless telephone service, customers no longer have to adjust their lifestyles to their wireless package. They will be able to take full advantage of their cell phones at any time of day or night, without having to worry about the time of day. For Videotron, that is what simplicity and user-friendliness are all about.

For consumers, Videotron's arrival in the wireless market will have the added benefit of stimulating competition by offering a new alternative. Videotron also believes that it is offering a distinctive product in the Canadian marketplace, which currently has one of the lowest wireless penetration rates in the industrialized world. The Company is therefore confident of positive market response, especially from its millions of existing customers.

The move into wireless telephone service is a turning point in Videotron's history. Already a leader in Internet access and cable television service, Videotron now offers a truly comprehensive and global line of services. With the roll-out of cable telephone service and now the wireless service, Videotron is consolidating its position as a key player in the telecommunications industry.
