Following up on the Voix d’ici exhibit, which featured 22 portraits of eminent Quebecers, Voix d’ailleurs consists of 22 portraits of world-famous personalities who inspired Boudreault’s art and left their mark on modern culture. The subjects of the large-scale paintings include celebrated painters such as Pablo Picasso, Vassily Kandinsky and Andy Warhol, great 20th century vocalists such as Luciano Pavarotti and Maria Callas, and icons such as James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. Most of the 22 canvasses come from a series called Destinées which has been shown in Paris, London, New York and Hong Kong. Voix d’ailleurs was assembled for the Quebecor gallery by curator Esteban Dravet.

Louis Boudreault’s evocative portraits show these personalities as children or teens. From his art, there emanates a poetry, a fragility and sometimes a gravity that foreshadows the extraordinary life paths of these towering figures.
