Le Journal de Québec

Profile
The number 1 daily in its market, Le Journal de Québec is a French language morning tabloid which serves Eastern Québec 7 days a week.

History
Le Journal de Québec was founded by Pierre Péladeau in 1967. When the first issue hit the streets on March 6, it became the first morning daily tabloid newspaper published in Eastern Québec.

During its early years of publication with modest means, Le Journal de Québec was printed in Montréal. Quickly earning public favour and with constant growth in circulation, in 1972 the paper moved to its own 15,000 sq. ft. building which housed a 6-unit Goss Urbanite Press and started up on-site printing.

As the Journal de Québec's success continued, two major expansions followed. In 1979, the facility was expanded to 40,000 sq. ft. and a second 6-unit press was added. Then, in 1989, the facility was again expanded to its current 85,000 sq. ft. area and two new 11-unit presses were brought in, increasing colour capacity and quality.

October 1983 marked another milestone as Le Journal de Québec published its first Sunday edition and became the first daily newspaper in Eastern Québec to publish 7 days a week.

Over the years, Le Journal de Québec has invested in state-of-the-art technology throughout its operations.

The paper has always stayed close to its readership. It has chronicled the development of Eastern Québec, maintained its distinctive approach to local, municipal and international news, sports, business and politics and has constantly enriched its content and design. In addition to its broad editorial content, Le Journal de Québec also publishes special interest supplements and TV listings. Its strong bond with its readers is demonstrated each year by the more than two million participants in its numerous contests and promotional activities.

A key player in its market, Le Journal de Québec is a powerful advertising medium which reaches more than 60% of the entire adult market in the greater Québec City area every week (NADbank).
