On May 17, hundreds of students from 19 elementary schools in and around Limoilou proudly crossed the finish line of the Marathon de la jeunesse Québecor.
They had tackled a tall challenge in February when they embarked on a marathon-length race spread over 15 weeks, running 2 or 3 kilometres per week.
The run was sponsored by Quebecor and organized by Motivaction Jeunesse, an organization that brings kids from all backgrounds together for sporting activities that give them the experience of shared success.
Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor, and Patrick Roy, GM and head coach of the Québec Remparts, kicked off the last 5-kilometre leg of the race. They told the young runners about the importance of physical activity to a healthy lifestyle.
