Quebecor Media Out of Home Launches Expo+ Contest

Quebecor Media Out of Home proudly announces the launch of its Expo+ contest, in collaboration with the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), to mark the deployment of its new bus shelters. The contest is open to participants in two categories: “general public” and “advertising agencies.” Amateur and professional artists from all regions of Québec are invited to submit one of their creations between now and February 23, 2014. The works of 20 finalists will be displayed on STM bus shelters. The four winners will split a purse totalling nearly $10,000.

Quebecor Media Out of Home is very pleased to make its bus shelter displays available to the public in order to showcase works by Québec creators and artists. The Expo+ contest will transform STM bus shelters into a giant outdoor urban art gallery and give the public a chance to take ownership of the medium. How to enter 1

Candidates who wish to enter one of their creations (a painting, illustration, photograph, drawing, collage or other work) in the Expo+ contest can upload an image of their artwork on the website between January 13 and February 23, 2014. Between February 24 and March 16, 2014, the public will be able to vote for their favourite piece2 in the two categories, “advertising agencies” and “general public.” The 20 original works that receive the most votes3 will be displayed throughout Quebecor Media Out of Home’s bus shelter advertising network. The finalists will be announced on the Expo+ website on Monday, March 17.

Exceptional exposure and nearly $10,000 in prizes

From April 4 to 20, 2014, the 20 finalists’ works will be displayed on Montréal-area bus shelters. Each finalist will also receive a bus shelter panel sized reproduction of his or her work. The three works that garner the most votes in the “general public” category will each receive a $1,500 prize. The winners will be announced on Friday, April 4, 2014 on the Salut Bonjour! television program and in the dailies Le Journal de Montréal and 24 Heures. In the “advertising agency” category, the work that receives the most votes from the public will be awarded a $5,000 prize. The winner will be announced on Thursday, April 3, at the CRÉA award ceremony. All prize-winners will also receive an Opus card loaded with an STM pass for one year.

Following an invitation to tender, Quebecor Media Out of Home was selected to install, maintain and advertise on STM bus shelters for the next 20 years. In October 2013, the company entered the fast-evolving field with a splash by installing some 40 gesture recognition digital bus shelters, a world’s first in street furniture.
