Videotron today welcomed the results of the first independent national study of the performance of broadband Internet access services, commissioned by the CRTC. The findings indicate that customers of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that use hybrid fibre optic-coax cable (HFC) technology, including Videotron, are getting the speeds they signed up for.

 

The preliminary report confirms the reliability of the Internet services provided by HFC-based ISPs. The results show that actual download speeds are 100% to 106% of the advertised speeds, and upload speeds are 101% to 105% of the advertised speeds.

Videotron’s Fibre Hybrid 120 and Fibre Hybrid 200 Internet access services are available to nearly 2.9 million households and businesses, or more than 90% of Videotron customers. Some Greater Montréal area households and businesses are currently achieving speeds of 1 Gbps or more in a Videotron pilot project.
